ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Naomi, also called Neemo! I'm a multimedia artist and author based on the unceded territory of the Sylix Okanagan Peoples, commonly known as Kelowna, Canada. Art has appealed to me as long as I can remember, and I was the kid who was always drawing or writing in my spare time. My formal education included graduating from an arts-focused high school, and earning a Bachelor of Media Studies from the University of British Columbia. I now run my art business full time, while also teaching skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

ABOUT MY WORK

As with many artists, I want my work to reflect myself in addition to the chosen subject. There are two main things that I try to include in my work for this reason. They are hidden details, and family friendlyness. I find that people often overlook the details in there everyday lives, because they are either too preoccupied with the big picture, or are too busy to take the time to notice. I aim to take the time to capture these details in a meaningful and enjoyable way, as can be seen in many of phy photography and animation projects. I also place great importance on making content for kids. The current generation is being innundated by low quality, mass produced, and often AI generated art, and I want to ensure there is still exemplary art for them to look at. This is why my books are my primary area of focus!

ABOUT MY VALUES

For me, making art isn't worth doing unless I do it right. I try to do as much as I can with materials and methods commonly available to me, instead of spending large amounts of money on equipment, software, or materials. I also try to take a very hands on approach wherever possible, and if I don't know how to do something, I will try to learn it before I outsource. I made this whole website from scratch rather than hiring someone, or subscribing to a template service! The most important thing in doing it right is not using AI. All of my work is proudly my own!
